History of the Labour Union
Saturday, 14 October, 2006, 12:13 - - History
Over the next couple of weeks, I will be going into a comparison of Communism and Labour Unions (one being an extention of the other and vice versa). Identifying the key factors for both and the eventual decline each will face due to the primary human error inherent in both philosophies.
This is not a personal afront to 'Larry, the Union Rep' et al., yourself, your company or your chosen profession, but a deliberate analysis of what has brought about the current state of these closely aligned philosopihes.
To begin, a little back history on the Labour Union may be in order to bring everyone onto the same page and out of the mindset of the modern union and the one you know and love, day in and day out.

North Korea

"North Korea Claims Successful Nuclear Bomb Test"

That was the headliner for Monday, 9 October, and it has people wondering just what that means. Not just the ordinary citizens this time, but even politicians are quietly nervous.
North Korea has had a long history of suble misdirection and antagonism of the US and its allies. It has gone through all the motions of nuclear armament several times before without actually producing any tangible weapons.
Mining the mountainous regions like crazed moles, stepping up enrichment at their nuclear facilities (which are heavily fortified and protected by AA batts)
But all so far have just been well orchestrated acts for the benefit of spy satellites that have nothing better to do after they pass over China then spy on the dark country.
Until Monday that is.

Success!!! (sorta) ... Nope it's definately a success!
Tuesday, 10 October, 2006, 10:16 - General
Well, my scripting as been successfully merged into the wrapper here and it looks a little better then I expected (for minimal adjustment).
Happy and joyous celebrations for all! :boogie:
Erm ...
No.
Not yet anyways.
It doesn't work for anyone that's not logged in.
Like, at all.
As there isn't even a message showing a lack of pics called into the script I suspect this to be a permission issue and hopefully really easy to fix, but ... not from work. Nothing is ever truly easy I suppose.

Trust me though. It works really well!
No, really ... it does!

EDIT: Success is absolute!!!

I managed to track down the suspicious anomaly (well, there where two), and I think all is happy again.
I see pictures logged in and out! Hopefully other people do too, I hate going crazy on the first day of the week.

=P

Inaugural Post

Well, I finally caved in and decided to simply borrow someone else's blog system.
Trying to develop a linear (no DB), secure, easy to use, blah, blah, whatever sort of interface was starting to spiral into a whole lot of extra work I really don't have time for.
I did happen to stumble accross this lovely little interface though and it's almost exactly what I was trying to do myself. ( SimplePHP Blog )
Now I know how William Gibson felt when he watched Blade Runner while he was writting Neuromancer. Head smacks all round.
I'm not above accepting the ease of convenience though ... nor do I expect drastic changes to the culture at large due to whatever wonders I may have produced.
A little minor and stylistic adjustments to the code and it really looks quite nice. I'm sure I'll be fiddling with this for weeks anyways, it's just too easy to adjust.
I love it!
If you're looking for a blog system, especially something that doesn't require a DB interface (like SQL, etc) and is dirt simple to use, I'd really recommend it. They're still releasing regular updates as well and that's always encouraging.
I am having a little difficulty integrating my gallery script into the wrapper and I fear that I may need to re-evaluate how it produces the preview page, but ... a little heavy handed hacking and I'm sure it'll work out eventually.
In the mean time, just try to ignore the mess in the gallery interface as I try to squish everything down to eventually fit it seemlessly into SPHPB.
Then I have to set up a way to accept descriptions ... comments ... maybe a rating system ... perhaps I could throw in ...
:omg:
Hmmm ... maybe I should just start with trying to get it to show pictures again. :D
